Driver dies after SUV overturns, ejects him

A driver was killed Wednesday after his sport utility vehicle overturned multiple times in Jefferson County, ejecting him, authorities said.

Arkansas State Police say Earl S. Wright, 50, of Pine Bluff was driving a 2002 GMC Envoy south on Arkansas 530 from Interstate 530 just outside Pine Bluff when the vehicle left the road shortly before noon.

According to a report, the Envoy overturned "several times" and ejected Wright. He was taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, where he died about an hour later.

The report did not include information on what may have caused the single-vehicle wreck. Conditions at the time were said to be clear and dry.

The death was the 444th in a traffic crash in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
