Little Rock police, Target to host holiday event

LITTLE ROCK — The Little Rock Police Department and Target are hosting a Heroes & Helpers event to help children purchase holiday gifts for their families.

Children will be paired with police officers during Saturday's in-store holiday shopping event to help pick out holiday gifts.

The Heroes & Helpers program fosters strong community relationships by matching police officers with less fortunate children to shop for their families during the holidays. The event is one way that Target donates 5 percent of its profits, or about $4 million each week, to local communities.

The Heroes & Helpers shopping event will benefit 20 children from the Little Rock School District and the city of Little Rock. Each child will receive a Target gift card of between $50 and $150 to do their holiday gift shopping.
