Wildcats get hot in a hurry

The North Little Rock Charging Wildcats' shots fell from the start and never stopped.

Senior guard Kevaughn Allen scored 18 points and senior guard K.J. Hill added 15 Thursday night to lead North Little Rock to a 76-50 victory over Little Rock Fair in the Jammin' For Jackets Tournament at the North Little Rock High School Gymnasium.

Fair kept it close early on the back of junior guard Jerrick Cole, who scored nine points in the first four minutes. Junior guard Nick Jones' driving layup had Fair within 17-13 with 11:21 left in the first half, but North Little Rock countered with a 10-2 run to take control.

"We just started hitting shots," North Little Rock Coach Johnny Rice said. "We shared the ball better tonight than we have so far. Overall, I was very pleased."

North Little Rock (5-1) shot 62.2 percent from the field.

"They got us playing their game," Fair Coach Charlie Johnson said. "They got us running, and we're not a running team."

Cole led Fair (4-2) with 24 points. Jones scored 17.

"Cole is good," Rice said. "No matter what we tried to throw at him, he was never rattled."

Hill's alley-oop pass to Allen led to the slam-dunk and a standing ovation with 10 minutes left in the game and gave North Little Rock a 63-31 lead.

Hill, who is orally committed to play football for the Arkansas Razorbacks, he said he is still trying to get into basketball shape after completing the football season.

"Tt's coming back," Hill said.
