Skeleton identified as Camden man's

CAMDEN -- Skeletal remains found in June have been confirmed as those of a man missing since March.

The Camden Police Department issued a statement that the bones found on Henry Wesley Road in June belong to Devan Lacy. Lacy's wife reported that he went for a walk late March 6 and never returned to his Harrison Street home.

Lacy's mother filed a missing person report March 11 when her son had not returned home or called.

In an earlier interview, Lacy's mother said her son usually called to speak to family members on a daily basis because most of them live in Pine Bluff.

On June 25, an individual reported finding bones in the wooded backyard of an abandoned house on Henry Wesley Road near Maul Road. The secluded house had vegetation growing on either side of the structure.

The remains were sent to the state Crime Laboratory for processing evidence. However, dental records were not enough to help identify the remains and the bones were then sent to the University of North Texas for mitochondrial testing.

The police are investigating Lacy's case as a homicide, Camden police Lt. Demoyne Gray said.
