Two chased, arrested in burglary of LR residence, police say

Two burglary suspects, one of them handcuffed, fled from authorities but were arrested after brief chases, Little Rock police said.

David Williams, 33, and Joey Ellis, 45, are each facing charges of residential burglary, theft of property and fleeing.

According to a Little Rock Police Department report, the two were seen removing items from a residence in the 3300 block of South Polk Street. The home's door was reportedly kicked in.

Police first handcuffed Williams and placed him on the ground, but he then "took off" as officers chased another man who ran, later identified as Ellis, the report said.

Williams was recaptured a short time later, while Ellis was "caught after a short foot pursuit and taken into custody after a brief struggle," police added.

Williams is also facing a charge of third-degree escape, and Ellis faces an additional charge of refusal to submit to arrest.

Both men remained in the Pulaski County jail Monday morning. Preliminary court appearances are scheduled for next Monday.
