Woman tries to buy marijuana, is shot instead, police say

A 22-year-old Conway woman told police she was trying to buy marijuana from a man in Little Rock when he instead pulled a gun on her and shot her when she fled, according to a report.

The victim suffered a graze wound on her upper left leg and was taken to Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock for treatment.

According to a Little Rock police report, the victim told authorities she and her husband went about 10 p.m. Saturday to an apartment complex on Labette Manor Drive to meet a man they didn't know to buy marijuana.

The couple made contact with the purported seller, who said the victim had to get in his car so they could go pick up the drugs, the report said, noting that the woman's husband stayed behind.

The man drove from the parking lot, told the victim it was "now a robbery" and pointed at her a revolver she described to authorities as a "silver gun with a spinny thing," the report said.

The victim then ran from the vehicle, and the would-be robber opened fire, grazing her once, police said.

The victim's husband heard the gunshots and found her in the lot, the report said. They knocked on a nearby apartment and sought help inside until emergency responders arrived.

No arrests have been made.
