Grant awarded for Civil War diorama

The Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission will award a $2,000 grant for a diorama project in Prairie County to commemorate the war's 150th anniversary, the commission announced.

The grant to the Bill and Sharon Arnold Family Foundation will be used to create a diorama depicting DeValls Bluff during the Civil War. The city was a major base for the Union Army during the war.

Civil War Sesquicentennial grants of up to $2,000 are awarded four times per year, as funding is available. The next application deadline is Feb. 20.
