JAGUARS

Miller extends contract

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle Roy Miller has signed a four-year contract extension worth $16.2 million.

Miller signed the deal Tuesday, two days before the Jaguars (2-12) play their home finale against the Tennessee Titans (2-12).

The Jaguars identified Miller as a building block for a defense that has played well most of the season. Jacksonville signed fellow defensive tackle Sen'Derrick Marks to a four-year deal worth $22 million last December. Marks' deal includes $8 million guaranteed.

Miller was near tears as teammates congratulated him in the locker room. He says "those type of things change your life, your family's life. You can't ask for anything better than that."

Miller has started 14 games this season, recording 30 tackles and a sack.

Bortles plans to play

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles is planning to play Thursday night against Tennessee despite a sprained right foot.

Bortles took part in a light practice Tuesday and says his foot is feeling better. He adds that he expects to play: "That'll be the plan unless they tell me otherwise."

Coach Gus Bradley says Bortles is progressing "a little bit faster than we thought" and is "cautiously optimistic" he will play.

Bortles wants to be in the lineup for the final two games, saying "unless there's something really, really wrong with you where you can't play or you're hurting the team, you should go play."

Bortles has 10 touchdown passes and an NFL-high 17 interceptions this season. He has been sacked 46 times.

REDSKINS

McCoy injures neck

ASHBURN, Va. -- The Washington Redskins have placed Colt McCoy on injured reserve with a neck injury, ruling him out for the final two games of the season.

McCoy left the last two games with sprained neck. He was hurt in the first quarter of a 24-0 loss to the St. Louis Rams, then aggravated the injury in the first quarter of Sunday's 24-13 defeat to the New York Giants.

Robert Griffin III replaced McCoy in both games and will start Saturday against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Redskins made the move Tuesday. They replaced McCoy on the roster by promoting linebacker Jackson Jeffcoat from the practice squad.

JETS

Thomas released

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- The New York Jets have released cornerback Josh Thomas, a day after he wrote on Twitter that his playbook and passport were stolen.

The Jets also signed safety Rontez Miles from the practice squad Tuesday and signed linebacker Mario Harvey to the practice squad.

Thomas made an appeal on Twitter on Monday for the items to be returned. A Jets spokesman confirmed that Thomas' team-issued tablet -- on which his playbook is stored -- was stolen Sunday night in New Jersey. The Jets remotely erased the playbook information from Thomas' tablet.

It's not clear whether the incident played any role in his departure. Thomas played in just one game after being signed in October. He was inactive for five of the eight games he was on the roster.

BILLS

Spiller returns

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- The Buffalo Bills have released fullback Frank Summers to make room for the return of running back C.J. Spiller.

The move was made Tuesday, a day after coach Doug Marrone announced Spiller was set to be activated from the reserve/injured designated to return list. Spiller missed eight weeks since breaking his collarbone.

Marrone wants to see how Spiller looks in practice before determining whether he can play Sunday, when Buffalo (8-6) plays at Oakland (2-12).

Summers became expendable after his playing time began to dwindle. The third-year player started seven of Buffalo's first nine games before being listed inactive in each of the past four.

Used mostly as a blocker, Summers had six carries for 17 yards and a touchdown, and five catches for 9 yards this season.

BEARS

Owner shoved over seats

CHICAGO -- A New Orleans Saints fan was arrested at Soldier Field Monday night after he shoved Chicago Bears owner George McCaskey during an argument over seats, according to the team and police.

McCaskey had arrived at some of his seats in the stadium to find several Saints fans sitting in them, according to the team. McCaskey talked briefly with one of the fans and then headed to the concourse to get stadium security, the team said.

As McCaskey walked away, Richard Kohnke, 58, went after him and pushed McCaskey in the back, according to police and the team. A Bears fan then tackled Kohnke, who pushed McCaskey to the ground, according to the team.

Security arrived and Kohnke, an attorney from New Orleans, was ejected from the stadium and charged with simple battery, police said.

McCaskey did not require medical attention, the team said.

TITANS

TE Brackett on IR

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans have placed tight end Brett Brackett on injured reserve after he hurt his knee in their loss to the Jets and replaced him by adding tight end Matthew Mulligan.

The Titans announced the moves Tuesday and signed quarterback Alex Tanney to the practice squad.

Brackett had been on and off the practice squad and roster between September and October before being signed to the roster the last time Nov. 5. He played in seven games before being hurt Sunday.

The 6-foot-4 Mulligan has played in 67 games over five seasons in the NFL, including two with Chicago this season. He spent last season with New England and has played with St. Louis and the Jets and a stint on the Titans' practice squad in 2008.

CARDINALS

Season over for Stinson

TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Arizona Cardinals have placed rookie defensive tackle Ed Stinson on season-ending injured reserve with a toe injury and elevated wide receiver Brittan Golden from the practice squad.

Stinson, a fifth-round draft pick, had seen considerable action before missing four games with the injury. He attempted to come back against St. Louis last week but again was forced to the sidelines by the injury.

Golden appeared in five games for the Cardinals last season, catching four passes for 136 yards.

In addition, Arizona re-signed running back Zach Bowman to the practice squad.
