Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art

17 6-7:30 p.m. -- Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art will host an Artinfusion members-only reception with artist Matt Miller at his studio in Fayetteville. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Service

18 3 p.m. -- The Northwest Arkansas MLK Council and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity will host the memorial service at St. James Baptist Church in Fayetteville. The featured speaker will be the Rev. Dwight Townsend of Little Rock.

MLK Dream Keepers' Community Service Programs

19 8 a.m. -- The youth prayer breakfast and activity will begin at the Janelle Y. Hembree Alumni House on the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville.

MLK March/City Award Program

19 11:15 a.m. -- The city of Fayetteville will honor a city employee who exhibits the spirit and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. The program will be held at the Walton Arts Center with the march beginning there and ending at the Arkansas Union at the University of Arkansas.

Recommitment Banquet

19 7 p.m. -- The annual Recommitment Banquet sponsored by the Northwest Arkansas Martin Luther King Jr. Council will be at the Fayetteville Town Center. The 2015 honorees will be Eddie R. Jones, Lifetime Achievement Award; Stephanie Adams, Ernestine White Gibson Individual Achievement Award; Ayana Gray, Rodney Momon Youth Award; Jonathan Nelson, Rev. J.A. Hawkins Posthumous Award; and Procter & Gamble, Corporation of the Year. Tickets are $30 for adults and $25 for students (kindergarten through undergraduate). Information: (479) 575-4825.

Texas Hold'em Tournament

Boys and Girls Club of Benton County

24 11 a.m.-5 p.m. -- The ninth annual Boys and Girls Club of Benton County Texas Hold'em Tournament will be held at Avondale, 2005 E. Central Ave. in Bentonville. Scrabble Wars

Literacy Council of Benton County

24 6:30-9:30 p.m. -- The Literacy Council of Benton County will hold its eighth annual Scrabble Wars at the Doubletree Guest Suites in Bentonville. Reservations for the casual Scrabble tournament fundraiser are $50 before Jan. 10 or $60 after. Reservations include dinner, cocktail reception and tournament entry fee. Participants are encouraged to bring extra cash to "bribe" judges and purchase extra letters. Players may choose to compete with a "traditional" or "dubious" team. Information: (479) 273-3486.

Paint The Town Red

American Heart Association

24 7-11 p.m. -- Paint The Town Red with the American Heart Association at the Fayetteville Town Center. The evening will feature signature dishes from area restaurants, a silent auction, cocktails and live music by Almost Famous. Tickets for the casual attire event are $75. Frostbite Family 5K

Northwest Arkansas Mercy Family YMCA

31 10 a.m. -- The Frostbite Family 5K to benefit the Northwest Arkansas Mercy Family YMCA will begin at the NWA Mercy Family YMCA parking lot at Village on the Creeks in Rogers. A Family Zone for kids will include games, a photo booth, hot chocolate and bounce houses.

There will be awards for top finishers in several categories and a costume contest. There will be prizes for Best Frostbite Attire, Best Snowman and Most Dressed. Entry fee for pre-registration by Jan. 19 is $25 and $30 after. The family package for four or more is $5 off per registration. Information: (479) 273-9622 or www.ymcanwa.org.

Le Chocolate Feast

Pink Divas of NWA, Arkansas Reeling and Healing

31 10 a.m.-3 p.m. -- Le Chocolate Feast, benefiting the Pink Divas of Northwest Arkansas, will be at the Northwest Arkansas Mall in Fayetteville. The fundraiser will feature chocolate creations from area restaurants, bakeries and caterers. Proceeds stay local for women with cancer and benefit Reeling and Healing and the Pink Divas.
