Arkansas’ jobless rate drops to 5.8%

Arkansas’ unemployment rate dropped three-tenths of a percentage point in November to 5.8 percent, falling to the U.S. average level, the state Department of Workforce Services said Friday.

The state’s civilian labor force gained 8,100 as 10,300 Arkansans found work and 2,200 left the work force, the department said.

“Arkansas’ unemployment rate dropped three-tenths of a percentage point in November, due in large part to the increase in employment,” Workforce Services spokesman Becky Heflin said in a statement. “This month’s addition of 10,300 employed is the largest employment gain of 2014.”

The United States average jobless rate remained stable at 5.8 percent between October and November.
