Light rain forecast for state's south

The southern half of the state can expect some rain Friday as a storm system passes through, forecasters said.

The precipitation will decrease and move out of the state to the east by late evening, the National Weather Service said.

John Robinson, warning coordinator for the National Weather Service, said rain will stay focused in the south, with the state's southern border picking up as much as 1/2 inch of rain, while totals will generally range from sprinkles to 1/4 inch in the south.

If there is any wintry precipitation, Robinson said, it would be in northern Arkansas and won’t be more than “a few pellets of sleet or a few snowflakes.”

Northern Arkansas can expect some rain, though, of up to 1/10 inch.
