Arkansas Coach Mike Anderson said the technical fouls detracted from an otherwise strong overall performance by the Razorbacks.

"The only thing I wasn't pleased with were the technical fouls," Anderson said. "I'm the only guy who's going to get a technical, so I have a problem with that. When things get a little chippy, our guys have got to learn to walk away from it."

Three technical fouls were called with 9:45 left -- one each on Arkansas' Bobby Portis and Ky Madden and one on Southeast Missouri State's Nino Johnson -- on a play under the basket.

Arkansas freshman forward Trey Thompson and Southeast Missouri State point guard J.J. Thompson -- who are not related -- then were called for double technicals with 1:20 left.

Wait for a good one

Arkansas shot 50 percent (28 of 56) from the field Saturday night.

"They were very patient offensively," Southeast Missouri State Coach Dickey Nutt said. "I thought they ran their offense.

"We were hoping they'd take quicker shots, but they didn't do it. You've got to give them credit for that."

All in the family

Dickey Nutt's brothers -- Houston, Dennis and Danny -- attended Saturday night's game along with their mother, Imogene.

"There's nothing like family," Dickey Nutt said. "For us to all still be healthy and be able to support each other is always nice."

Old teammates

Arkansas senior forward Alandise Harris and Southeast Missouri State junior point guard J.J. Thompson played together against the Razorbacks in Verizon Arena three years ago.

Harris and Thompson played for Houston when the Cougars beat the Razorbacks 87-78.

Family business

Southeast Missouri State Coach Dickey Nutt's two sons, Lucas and Logan, are high school basketball coaches in Missouri.

Lucas Nutt is head coach at Senath-Honersville in Senath and Logan Nutt is head coach at Woodland in Marble Hill, Mo.

"I tried to talk them out of going into coaching, but they wouldn't listen to me," Dickey Nutt said with a laugh. "They're both doing well, and I'm proud of them."

Nutt's daughter, Lexis, is an aspiring actress who had a speaking part in the movie Gone Girl, which stars Ben Affleck and was filmed in Cape Girardeau, Mo., where Southeast Missouri State is located.

Vs. SEMO

Arkansas improved to 8-1 all-time against Southeast Missouri State.

The Redhawks' lone victory in the series came in their first game against Arkansas, when they beat the Razorbacks 28-21 during the 1924-25 season.

That game 90 years ago also is Southeast Missouri State's lone victory against a team currently in the SEC. The Redhawks are 1-19 all-time against SEC teams.
