Ballroom replaces Letters, boys choir set at Wildwood

Celebrity Attractions reports that a tour of A.R. Gurney's Love Letters starring Barbara Eden and Hal Linden, including a Jan. 16-18 stop in Maumelle, has been canceled "due to the producer's licensing issues."

They're replacing the show on their schedule with Ballroom With a Twist, featuring Cheryl Burke from Dancing With the Stars, 8 p.m. Jan 16 and 2 and 8 p.m. Jan. 17 and 2 p.m. Jan. 18 at the Maumelle Performing Arts Center, 100 Victory Lane, Maumelle. The show will also feature other performers from Dancing With the Stars, American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance.

Boys' Choir coming

A 7 p.m. March 5 concert by the Vienna Boys' Choir is the centerpiece of the spring season at Wildwood Park for the Arts, 20919 Denny Road, Little Rock.

Tickets are $35 and $75.

Memphis Holidaze

Ballet master class

Michele Gifford, former principal dancer with the New York City Ballet, will lead a master class, 10:30 a.m.-noon Jan. 10 in Studio 129, Center for Performing Arts, University of Arkansas at Little Rock, 2801 S. Grant-writing workshop

The Arkansas Historic Preservation Program will hold a grant-writing workshop for people interested in applying for the agency's County Courthouse Restoration or Historic Preservation Restoration grant programs at 10 a.m. Jan. 8 at the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, 501 W. Lifelong arts

The Arkansas Arts Council is introducing its Arts for Lifelong Learning Mini-Grant Program, providing funding for eligible institutions that wish to host a short-term (up to 10 days) residency program with professional artists listed on the Arts Council's Arts in Education roster.

Preservation essays

Arkansas students in grades 5-8 can enter the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program's 24th annual "Preserve Our Past" art and essay invitational. Submit by April 1 an artwork or essay based on a historic Arkansas property that is at least 50 years old, focusing on how those properties reflect Arkansas history or why it is important to preserve the state's historic places.

First-, second- and third-place winners in each category (grades 5-6 and 7-8) will receive a trophy; winners in the art division will have their artwork framed; honorable mentions will receive ribbons. Winning entries will be displayed at the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center in May.
