NW OKLAHOMA STATE 66, OUACHITA BAPTIST 64

ARKADELPHIA — Ouachita Baptist had two chances to tie the game in the final minute, but committed a turnover once and Breanna Harris missed a layup with 2 seconds left in a loss at Bill Vining Arena on Saturday.

Jonna Gregory’s layup with 45 seconds left gave the Rangers a 66-64 lead, followed by a turnover by OBU’s Katherine West with 42 seconds left. Emily Eaton missed a three-pointer for the Rangers, and Ashley Johnson grabbed the rebound to give the Tigers one last chance, but Harris missed the layup and the Rangers held on.

OBU (3-7, 0-4) twice held a one-point lead in the first half, but it never led after halftime. Northwestern Oklahoma State (3-7, 2-3) led by as much as 47-37 with 14:48 left, but couldn’t put OBU away. OBU trailed 64-59 with 2:23 left when West made a three-pointer and Kori Bullard made a jumper to tie the game at 64-64. But that was followed by Gregory’s game-winning layup.

Bullard led OBU with 17 points, while Harris had 14 and Kapler had 12.

ARKANSAS-FORT SMITH 93, HENDERSON STATE 68

FORT SMITH — Arkansas-Fort Smith shot 60 percent from the floor in the first half to jump to a 51-28 halftime lead in a blowout at the Stubblefield Center on Saturday.

The Lions made 21 of 35 shots in the first half, while holding Henderson State to 3-of-28 shooting before halftime. Angi Ramsey had 22 points and 18 rebounds to lead Arkansas-Fort Smith (3-5), while Jasmine Brainard had 20 points, Candice Followwell had 14 and Sydney Franklin had 10.

Aungelique Sledge led Henderson State (2-9) with 23 points, while Jasmine Settles had 15 and Dulincia Keener had 14.

ARKANSAS-MONTICELLO 73, PHILANDER SMITH 62

MONTICELLO — Jordan Goforth scored 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting and had a team-high 12 rebounds for Arkansas-Monticello (5-5), which led Philander Smith 38-22 at halftime and led by 10 or more for the first 19 minutes of the second half at Steelman Fieldhouse.

Nelsha Peterson added 12 points, Taylor Collins had 11 points and Tamia Grady had 10 for UAM, which has won three of its past four games.

Goforth had 12 points and 7 rebounds in the first half to help Arkansas-Monticello build a lead, and 10 points and 5 rebounds in the second half to help the Cotton Blossoms maintain.

Goforth, the GAC’s third-leading scorer, finished with 20 or more points for the sixth time this season.

Jerrica Scott was 14 of 14 from the free-throw line to finish with 24 points and 9 rebounds for Philander Smith (10-2), which had its seven-game winning streak snapped.

MEN

STEPHEN F. AUSTIN 94, ARKANSAS TECH 57

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Clide Geffrard scored a career-high 14 points to lead four players with at least 10 points as Division I member Stephen F. Austin overwhelmed NCAA Division II member Arkansas Tech.

SFA (9-3) extended its victory streak to eight games as Thomas Walkup and Demetrious Floyd had 13 points apiece and Jacob Parker chipped in 12.

Arkansas Tech (6-5) stayed close until Walkup drove for a layup and SFA outscored Tech 16-0 for a 29-9 lead midway of the first half. The Lumberjacks held a 49-28 halftime advantage and coasted to the victory in the second half. SFA made 12 of 24 three-point attempts and was 30 of 55 (54.5 percent) from the floor while limiting Arkansas Tech to 17-of-47 (36.2 percent) shooting.

Darrick Little totaled 17 points for the Wonder Boys.

ANGELO STATE 113, ARKANSAS-MONTICELLO 74

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Marsell Holden finished with a game-high 23 points and Angelo State shot 60 percent from the field to defeat Arkansas-Monticello. Angelo State (11-1) outscored UAM 53-34 in the first half and 60-40 in the second half, holding a lead for more than 38 of the game’s 40 minutes.

Arkansas-Monticello (3-5) shot 33 percent from the field (24 for 73), 23 percent on three-pointers (5 of 22) and 72 percent on free throws (21 of 29). D’Audrio Patton led the Boll Weevils with 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting, Jamal Peterson had 16 points and Richard Benedyth had 14. Arkansas-Monticello’s leading scorer, Sharif Hudson, scored 8 points on 3-of-12 shooting.

Angelo State had players to score 10 or more points, led by Marsell Holden’s game-high 23 points. Angelo State’s bench contributed 44 points.

OUACHITA BAPTIST 83, NW OKLAHOMA ST. 67

ARKADELPHIA — Ouachita Baptist stormed back for a come-from-behind victory on Saturday at Bill Vining Arena. Northwestern Oklahoma State led 16-5 less than seven minutes into the game, but Ouachita Baptist outscored its opponent 13-2 sparked by Justin McCleary’s three consecutive three-pointers to tie the game at 18-18 with 10:33 left.

McCleary finished with 20 points, while Colt Fason had a team-high 21 points and Tirrell Brown had 15 points for the Tigers (7-2, 3-1).

Ouachita Baptist led 44-41 at halftime and never trailed in the second half.

The Tigers finished with a 44.4 percent field-goal percentage and outrebounded the Rangers (2-9, 1-4) 41-27.
