COVER STORY Animal Planet offers Turtleman, Redwood Kings specials

Last big push begins today with varied holiday fare

Many dedicated Santaphiles have been counting down the days until Christmas since before Halloween. Others got on board the day after Thanksgiving, when it's more socially acceptable.

Well, here we are with only four short days left and the question looms: Have you seen enough holiday theme movies and TV shows to hold you until next October when they kick in again? Time's running out and there is no such thing as too many.

You know who you are. You've watched every Christmas movie on Hallmark Channel this year, including Single Santa Seeks Mrs. Claus, Annie Claus Is Coming to Town and A Diva's Christmas Carol. You've indulged in ABC Family's "25 Days of Christmas" (and the "Countdown to the 25 Days of Christmas"), including Holiday in Handcuffs, Christmas Cupid and Jenny McCarthy's Santa Baby 2: Christmas Maybe.

All that and you still crave more? Perhaps something off the beaten path? You're in luck -- regular Animal Planet programs have you covered with a slew of family friendly (TV-PG) holiday specials airing today through Saturday. Here's the lineup. Enjoy!

Today -- North Woods Law: Holiday Special, 8 p.m. Warden Pete Herring visits the Barbara Bush Child Cancer Center in Portland, Maine, with some furry friends from the K9 team. Warden Alan Curtis donates evidence game meat to a local soup kitchen. Sergeants Scott Thrasher and Chris Simmons invite all their wardens and families to celebrate the conclusion of deer season with an annual Christmas tree cutting and potluck supper at the Thrashers' home.

Monday -- Wild West Alaska: Holiday Special, 8 p.m. It's Christmas at the reality show's Anchorage gun shop, and everyone is getting ready to spend their holiday bonuses. But when a plan goes south, store manager Ken Feinman is convinced Christmas is ruined.

Wednesday -- Too Cute! Merry Cuteness, 6-10 p.m. Spend Christmas Eve with the adorable Too Cute critters. From prancing baby goats to kittens climbing Christmas trees and puppies dashing though the snow, this special combines the miracle of cuteness with beloved holiday classics guaranteed to warm hearts.

Thursday -- Call of the Wildman: Turtleman Takes Manhattan Holiday Special, 8 p.m. Never-before-seen footage and insider stories take viewers behind the scenes as Turtleman (Ernie Brown Jr.) and Neal tell the tale of their trip to find the perfect gift for Turtlemom in New York. The boys see new sights, make new friends and tour the Big Apple as only Team Turtle can.

Friday -- Treehouse Masters: Treetop Candy Kitchen, 8 p.m. "Santa Pete" Nelson and his merry band of elves head down to Northern California with the purpose of elevating one client's family tradition to the trees.

For generations, the Splinter family has celebrated the holidays with candy making on its vineyard. This year, the family takes the candy making to new heights. When the Treehouse Masters' sleigh lands, the family shows plans for a full-scale, stainless-steel candy kitchen and wine bar inside a 500-square-foot ski lodge treehouse with barrel ceilings, loft bedroom and even a shower to wash off all the sticky sugar residue.

But completing Pete's first-ever chef's kitchen 11 feet in the air could take a Christmas miracle to finish. Pete and his team must harness the power of steel to give this family the best Christmas gift ever.

Redwood Kings: A Treehouse for Heroes, 9 p.m. The Daniels Woodland crew says a holiday "thank you" to a group of heroes at a magical place called Blue Butterfly Village. Just in time for Christmas, the Redwood Kings build an all-reclaimed fantasy playground near a habitat for one of the rarest butterflies in the world as part of a housing project for women veterans and their children.

Saturday -- Too Cute! Holiday Special, 7 p.m. In a very merry episode of Too Cute!, three unique breeds learn what the holidays truly mean. A very mischievous snowshoe cat named Eloise is trouble while the only male kitty in the litter, Jingle, learns to find his voice among his eight rambunctious sisters. Then, in a litter of four cuddly Brussels griffons, one pup sticks out. Grumpy Humphrey is anything but jolly, but with a little bit of help, he may find his holiday spirit.

My Cat From: Hell-iday Special, 8 p.m. Get the inside scoop as Jackson Galaxy tries to save the holidays for three Boston families.

First, a rambunctious Bengal threatens to ruin a couple's first Christmas with its newborn baby. Next, feuding felines cause chaos for a couple who wants to throw a holiday party. And finally, instead of peace on earth, it's something else for one family whose sphinx is avoiding the litter box and doing her business on all the gifts instead.
