Master Gardeners holiday fete plants festive decorating ideas

While the winner of the Frank Broyles Award was being announced upstairs in the ballroom, the Pulaski County Master Gardeners gathered for their Christmas luncheon Dec. 9 in a downstairs meeting room at the Little Rock Marriott.

Decked in festive apparel themselves, attendees were treated to a crash course in seasonal decorations by Chris Norwood, vice president of Tipton & Hurst. Norwood made it look pretty easy to fashion such creations as a door swag, topiary and wreath with only a few simple "ingredients." Afterward, the gardeners enjoyed a meal paired with wines provided by Clark Trim of Colonial Wines and Spirits, and posed for photos with the group's resident Santa Claus, Doyle Hughes.

In addition, Randy Forst of the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture's Cooperative Extension Service was presented by the gardeners with a gift check to pay for professional development expenses.
