A fire at Forest Place Apartments on Monday morning caused $300,000 worth of damage, Little Rock Fire Department said.

Firefighters responded to a call at Forest Place Apartments, 1421 N. University Ave, about 2:45 a.m., Little Rock Fire Department Capt. Randy Hickmon said. The fire began above apartment 323 and went through the attic to the roof, he said. Apartments 223 and 123 both received severe water damage, and the total cost for repairs — for the three units, the attic and the roof — will be $300,000, Hickmon said.

Hickmon said firefighters got the fire under control quickly, and were on scene for about three and a half hours. No one was hurt in the fire, he said.

The fire department has not determined a cause yet, and investigators will be out there Monday trying to figure that out, Hickmon said.

“That was one of the buildings we had a fire in a few years ago,” Hickmon said. “We had an arsonist working out of there, so it’s been refurbished and everything. We just have to figure out what caused it.”

In August, Lacey Moore was sentenced to 16 years in prison after pleading guilty to setting seven fires at Forest Place Apartments between February and June 2013, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette previously reported.
