Fort Smith woman identified in fatal Oklahoma fire

FORT SMITH — The Oklahoma Medical Examiner's Office has identified a Fort Smith woman who died when fire broke out at a house in Pushmataha County in southeastern Oklahoma.

The Southwest Times Record reports that 41-year-old Lalania Allen died on Nov. 12. Eddie Johnson of the Medical Examiner's Office says the official cause of death is still pending.

The early-morning fire erupted at a wood-frame house about 22 miles east of Antlers, Oklahoma. Pushmataha County Undersheriff Darrell Nichols says a state fire marshal ruled the fire was likely accidental and caused by a wood-burning stove.

Nichols says 23-year-old Orval Dendy of Rattan, Oklahoma, was also found deceased in the house.

Nichols says the house had no electricity and the stove appeared to be the only source of heat.
