Hendrix grad Carll to play at Rev Room with Heathens

Singer-songwriter Hayes Carll will return to central Arkansas for a show that will also include Band of Heathens opening at 9 p.m. Friday at the Revolution Room. Band of Heathens will then serve as Carll's band after their opening set.

Carll, a Texas native, graduated with a degree in history from Hendrix College, where he met his wife, an Arkansan, which possibly explains his annual late December shows in central Arkansas.

Admission is $20.

Sunday at 5:30 p.m., the club will host the 34th annual Nightflying anniversary party.

Featured performers will be The Schwag, Weakness for Blondes, Jason Greenlaw, Jason Hale & Friends, FreeVerse, Stella Luss and the Joe Pitts Band.

American Princes will perform at 9 p.m. Saturday at the White Water Tavern.

Formed in 2002 in Brooklyn, the band then consisted of David Slade, Matthew Quin and John Beachboard, who moved to Little Rock. They soon met Collins Kilgore, who joined the group. Beachboard later left to enter the restaurant industry. Luke Hunsicker joined in 2004, but died in August 2010. Will Boyd joined in 2006.

The band has released four albums and its latest recording, an EP, came out in 2011.

One Chuck Gatlin plays drums; the other one plays guitar and sings. Other members are Gabe Solis on bass and vocals, Carson Harper on lead guitar and keyboards and Jenni Gatlin on vocals.
