Theatre patrons are expressing appreciation to a Little Rock movie house showing a film that generated international controversy.
The Riverdale 10 theatre scheduled showings of "The Interview," a comedy depicting the assassination of the North Korean leader.
Kay Trice and her husband drove from Stuttgart to Little Rock to see the movie with their daughter. She says she appreciated the freedom to do so.
Sony Pictures had called off the release after threats from Internet hackers. The president and others criticized that decision and the company reversed its position.
Meg Johnston says she would not have seen the movie "in a million years" but the controversy led her to the theatre Thursday.
Theatre owner Matt Smith had pledged to show the movie. Several patrons thanked him as he took tickets.
