Pair of earthquakes rattle parts of Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY — A pair of earthquakes has rattled parts of Oklahoma.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the first earthquake was recorded at 5:17 a.m. Saturday a little more than a mile south-southeast of Langston. The 2.8-magnitude temblor was recorded at a depth of about four miles.

About 10:40 a.m., a second 3.4-magnitude earthquake was recorded about eight miles west-southwest of Pawnee. The temblor occurred at a depth of about three miles.

Authorities say no injuries or damage has been reported after the temblors.

Geologists say earthquakes of magnitude-2.5 to -3.0 are generally the smallest felt by humans and that damage is not likely from quakes of below magnitude-4.0.
