• Ron Klain, the Ebola response coordinator for the United States, called the mishandling of materials that led to a lab technician's possible exposure to the virus "unacceptable," telling CBS' Face the Nation that the incident carried no risk to the public because of protocols and procedures that are in place.

• Shirley Little, a pastor's wife from Southern California, said police have detained a man after a hearse with a coffin still in it was driven off the property of a Baptist church while the funeral director was inside arranging flowers before the service.

• Brett Smith, 19, a patient at the Bronx Psychiatric Center in New York, was charged with second-degree murder in the death of fellow patient Leon Little, 51, whom officers found unconscious with abrasions on his throat.

• Asif Mohammad Khan, 28, was arrested after police say he caused more than $10,000 in damage at the Islamic Cultural Center in Fresno, Calif., by breaking windows, pouring bleach on a U.S. flag and vandalizing a nearby medical office.

• Timothy Poole, a registered sex offender who purchased a lottery ticket in Florida and won $3 million, is the subject of a lawsuit seeking damages for pain and suffering, filed by two brothers, alleged victims who were ages 9 and 5 when Poole was arrested.

• Julia Shields, 45, is facing several charges, including attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault and felony evading arrest, after authorities say she drove through a Chattanooga, Tenn., neighborhood wearing body armor and randomly shooting at people in their cars.

• Kim Williams, whose husband, Eric, has been sentenced to death for killing the wife of a Texas district attorney, has reached a tentative plea deal with prosecutors on murder charges in connection with the 2013 slayings of the wife, the district attorney and a prosecutor.

• Cristina Fernandez, the Argentine president, has suffered a fracture in her left ankle, doctors said, the latest in a series of health setbacks, including sciatica, a throat infection and surgery to remove a blood clot, which have sidelined the 61-year-old leader throughout the year.

• Lindsey McNamara, 24, was arrested after taking a Dunkin' Donuts box full of raw bacon and sausage to a police station in Framingham, Mass., smearing the meat all over a dispatch window and saying she was there to "feed the pigs."
