EAST RUTHERFORD — An array of security features is greeting fans heading to the Super Bowl at MetLife Stadium.

From sharpshooters on top of buildings to boats patrolling the rivers around the stadium, roughly 100 agencies are involved in some way Sunday for the first Super Bowl held in the New York-New Jersey area.

Security personnel also include the four-legged variety. Dozens of bomb-sniffing dogs are checking cars as they enter the complex and sniffing bags of credentialed media members.

New Jersey State Police Superintendent Rick Fuentes says there have been a few minor incidents by mid-afternoon, but that operations had gone smoothly. The weather has cooperated, too, with temperatures in the upper 40s.

By 4 p.m. more than 22,000 people had taken trains to the game, a record for New Jersey Transit.
