Searcy police are looking for a man who, they say, robbed a bank at gunpoint on Monday afternoon.

About 1 p.m., officers responded to an armed robbery report at First Community Bank, 1201 N. Maple St., where witnesses told officers that a man had entered the bank and displayed a pistol, Cpl. Steve Hernandez said in a statement.

The man demanded bank tellers to give him money, and a witness outside of the bank saw him flee the business riding on a bicycle toward the area of the Country Meadows Apartments, 909 Holmes Road, Hernandez told Arkansas Online. No customers were inside of the bank at the time of the robbery.

The robber is described as a black man standing about 5-foot-10 and in his late 20s to early 30s, according to the police department. He was last seen wearing all dark clothing and carrying a "drawstring, athletic-style bag." Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact the police department's criminal investigation division at (501) 268-3531.
