Police: Woman steals three vehicles, multiple IDs in Baxter County

A call regarding a "suspicious person" in Baxter County led to the arrest of a woman who, police say, stole three vehicles and had multiple forms of government identification in her possession when officers found her.

Vanessa Henschel, 21, was arrested Sunday after authorities were called to Alpine Lane to investigate a call of a suspicious person in the area. Deputies found Henschel driving a red 1992 Geo Tracker that matched the description of a vehicle that was reported stolen earlier that day, according to a news release from the Baxter County sheriff’s office.

Henschel was found with a black bag full of driver’s licenses, credit cards, a license plate and a set of keys belonging to a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee that also had been reported stolen that morning, according to the release. Henschel also told authorities she “borrowed” a green and silver Dodge 1500 truck earlier and drove it to Peal’s Resort in Salesville.

The owner of the Jeep, after identifying the keys as their own, told deputies that Henschel “would have had to enter his residence to take the keys,” the release states.

Henschel was taken into custody and charged with two counts of theft of property and once count of residential burglary, all felonies. She is currently being held at the Baxter County jail.
