Former UAMS dean donates $275,000 to university

A former dean of two University of Arkansas for Medical Services colleges has donated $275,000 to construct a fountain on campus.

The university said Thomas Bruce made the donation in memory of his wife, Dolores Bruce, who died in January 2013.

Bruce was the inaugural dean of the UAMS Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health from 2001 to 2002 and dean of the College of Medicine from 1974 to 1985.

The fountain is under construction in front of the UAMS Medical Center. It will feature a basin that is 18 inches deep and 50 feet in diameter with a 25-foot center spray and eight 15-foot-high sprays arching the center.
