Morrill’s shot lifts ASU in overtime

JONESBORO - Jane Morrill hadn’t scored the entire second half when she spotted up for an open three-pointer from the top of the key with 17.6 seconds left. Her three and Kendall Noble’s missed three at the buzzer forced overtime at the Convocation Center.

Morrill’s jumper on the first possession of overtime gave ASU (14-8, 8-2) the lead and it never trailed again in a 78-75 comeback victory over Western Kentucky on Wednesday.

The victory was ASU’s fifth consecutive over Western Kentucky (14-6, 6-4) and kept it in sole possession of first place in the Sun Belt Conference.

Aundrea Gamble scored 14 of her 25 points in the final four minutes of regulation and overtime. Hanna Qedan had 16 points for ASU, while Morrill had 13. Noble had a season-high 27 points for Western Kentucky, while Chastity Gooch had 15 points and eight rebounds.
