Motorcyclist killed in Fayetteville collision

A 23-year-old Fayetteville man died Saturday when his motorcycle rear-ended a car and he was thrown from the vehicle, authorities said.

Robert N. Robinson was riding a 2011 Honda motorcycle east on Joyce Boulevard about 1:30 p.m. when he tried to pass a Toyota Corolla that had stopped to turn and instead rear-ended it, Arkansas State Police said.

Robinson was thrown from the motorcycle, which had been traveling at a high rate of speed, according to a preliminary police report. He landed in the eastbound lane of traffic and was hit by an SUV, police said.

Robinson died at the scene. The other drivers were not injured.

Conditions at the time of the collision were described as cloudy but dry.

The death marked the 37th fatality in a traffic crash in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
