A man who, police say, is suspected in the burglary of a Conway AT&T store has been taken into custody after he checked into a Little Rock hospital using a fake name.
Michael Mitchell, 26, was arrested Saturday by U.S. Marshal Service agents shortly before being released from the hospital. The name of the hospital and the reason for Mitchell's visit was not made clear in the news release sent out by the Conway Police Department, and a call to thedepartment wasn't immediately returned.
Mitchell, who is charged with commercial burglary and theft of property, had previously evaded officers when he walked out of the Conway Regional Medical Center on Jan. 30. Police say he was injured while fleeing from Russellville police in connection with a burglary at an AT&T store in that area.
Mitchell was later named as a person of interest in the Conway store burglary, located at 855 Amity Road, and Conway police obtained a warrant for his arrest on Feb. 1. Authorities say that Mitchell is expected to face additional similar charges in Russellville “and several other agencies in the area,” according to the release.
Mitchell is being held in the Faulkner County jail, and his bond amount is not known at this time.
