Man arrested after police find shotgun in vehicle on school property

A 20-year-old Hot Springs man was arrested Monday after authorities found a shotgun in his vehicle at Lake Hamilton High School, according to a police report.

Alexander Gilliana is facing a charge of possession of a gun on school property.

Officials say deputies responded to the school at 280 Wolf St. in Pearcy about 2:30 p.m. to investigate a report of a driver who was "being very disorderly" after being involved in a road rage incident earlier that day.

According to a probable cause affidavit from the Garland County sheriff's office, Gilliana said he had become involved in a dispute after driving on Airport Road, which began when he pulled out in front of another vehicle and was driving slowly.

The other vehicle followed Gilliana when he stopped at a nearby business and the driver threatened to assault him "if he did that again," the affidavit said.

Police say Gilliana then followed the vehicle "to let them know they can't talk to him like that" before ending up at the high school.

A search of the revealed a shotgun under the backseat as well as two boxes of ammunition and four knives, the affidavit said.

A Feb. 25 court date is scheduled.
