Razorbacks to honor Final Four teams

FAYETTEVILLE - Arkansas will honor its six Final Four basketball teams as well as former President Bill Clinton during a halftime ceremony at Saturday’s game against LSU in Walton Arena.

This season marks the 20th anniversary of Arkansas’ 1994 national championship team. The Razorbacks returned to the national title game in 1995, when they lost to UCLA.

Nolan Richardson, who coached the Razorbacks for 17 seasons in 1985-2002, will be on hand, along with former Razorbacks Corliss Williamson, Scotty Thurman and Al Dillard from the 1994 and 1995 Razorbacks; Todd Day, Lee Mayberry and Oliver Miller from the 1990 Final Four team; and Jim Counce and U.S. Reed from the 1978 Final Four team.

The Razorbacks also had Final Four teams in 1941 and 1945.

Clinton, the former Arkansas governor and the 42nd president who attended several Arkansas games while in office including the 1994 Midwest Regional final against Michigan in Dallas and title game against Duke in Charlotte, N.C., will be presented with a framed No. 42 jersey. He is the only sitting President to attend a NCAA Tournament championship game.
