Police spokesman Lt. Sidney Allen said an argument began inside the club that led to gunshots.

Allen did not know what prompted the argument, nor did he know if the shooting happened inside the club.

Jonathan Talley, 21, of 20 Wemberly Drive in Little Rock was hit and taken to Arkansas Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Brandon West, 27, of North Little Rock, was critically wounded and taken for treatment at UAMS Medical Center. Police did not have an update on West’s condition.

Rayven Hill, 23, of Mabelvale and Adarrius Boyd, 21, of North Little Rock were both grazed by bullets in the shooting.

Allen did not know if the suspects and victims knew each other or if the shooting was random.

One suspect was described as a 5-foot-6, 130-pound black man in his early 20s wearing a black shirt and black pants.

The other suspect was only described as a black man.

While at Arkansas Children’s Hospital, police encountered Michael Strickland, 23,who had more than 3 ounces of suspected marijuana as well as “large amounts of money” on him, reports said.

He was arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana. He remained in the Pulaski County jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond Monday night.

Allen did not know if Strickland was involved in the shooting or not.

The homicide, the second in a week in Little Rock, was not the first at the Asher Avenue nightlife spot.

In the early morning hours of Sept. 29, 2007, a group of men were kicked out of the club, then known as the Sandpiper Club, for fighting. They went to their vehicles and then started shooting at the club.

Moments later, another vehicle rolled past and its occupants shot at the first group of shooters, wounding several and killing Demitrie Culbreath, 30, of Jacksonville.

The club was temporarily shut down by court order for being a nuisance, according to reports. Management later entered an agreement with the city to make the establishment safer.

Calls to management at the Quarter Note club were not returned Monday.
