A winter storm delivering a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain to a large swath of the Southeast United States is causing delays and cancellations at the Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport on Wednesday.
The airport posted on its Twitter account that "many" flights were canceled and advised would-be flyers to check with their airlines before heading to the airport.
A schedule on the airport website listed a number of cancellations, including all but one of the day's arrivals and departures from and to Atlanta. Of the 14 such flights listed, only Delta flight 1367 set to arrive from Atlanta in Little Rock at 10:41 p.m. had not yet been canceled.
Several flights to and from other destinations were delayed.
The National Weather Service warned the storm could have "catastrophic" consequences for the region, making travel in places dangerous to "nearly impossible" and causing widespread and extended power failures.
The storm will not hit Little Rock, though some parts of south Arkansas were dealing Wednesday morning with slick conditions from a wintry mix that moved through the night before.
