African-American Legislators Exhibit

SEARCY — Harding University’s Concert Lyceum Series will continue with the Baltimore Consort at 7 p.m. in the Administration Auditorium. The Baltimore Consort was originally founded in 1980 and, through instrumental music, explores early music from England, Scotland, France, Italy and Spain. Valentine Pageant
SALEM — The Zeta Omicron Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will conduct its annual Valentine Pageant on Friday at Salem High School prior to the Salem-Viola basketball game. Davidsonville Town Site Tour
POCAHONTAS — Davidsonville Historic State Park, on Arkansas 166 near Pocahontas, will offer a free guided tour of the Davidsonville Town Site from 2-3 p.m. The town, established in 1815, was the earliest platted town in Arkansas and the home of the first post office, the first land office and the first courthouse in the state. Interesting details of the town will be discussed. Displays of artifacts from the town will be available at the Visitor Center before and after the tour, as well as exhibit panels that show 3-D images of what the town would have looked like during its lifetime. The park’s hiking trails and historic cemeteries can also be explored. Pets are welcome on the tour but must be on a leash. Children younger than 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Giving Tree Grants Submission Deadline
SEARCY— The deadline is Saturday for nonprofits in White County to submit applications for Giving Tree Grants through the White County Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Arkansas Community Foundation. Any IRS 501(c)(3) public charity, public school, government agency or hospital in White County is eligible to apply. Other applicants may be considered if the project has a clear charitable purpose for public benefit. Grants are not made to individuals. TEAS V Test Dates

NCA District Fair Scholarship
The North Central Arkansas District Fair offers the Billy Ray Nix Memorial Scholarship and the NCA District Fair scholarship to graduating seniors in the seven-county district fair area. Scholarship and Youth Tour
JACKSONVILLE — First Electric Cooperative is accepting applications for its scholarship program and the 2014 Electric Cooperative Youth Tour. High school seniors whose parents or guardians are First Electric members may apply for one of five $2,000 scholarships that the cooperative awards each year. To be eligible for the scholarships, which are funded through Operation Round-Up, applicants must have a minimum 3.0 grade-point average through their senior year of high school and be a full-time student at an accredited institute of higher learning in Arkansas. High school juniors whose parents or guardians are First Electric members may apply for the Youth Tour, an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., June 14-19. White County GOP Filing Period
SEARCY — The White County Republican Committee announced that filing for county and township offices will begin at noon Feb. 24 and end at noon March 3. Candidates need to file at 719 W. Beebe Capps (in the ReMax office complex), from 9-11 a.m. and from noon to 5 p.m., or by appointment. A member of the local Republican Party will be present to accept candidate filing fees and provide appropriate forms. CABOT — Cabot Cleanup and Hazardous Waste Round-Up 2014 will be held from 9 a.m. to noon March 22. This citywide cleanup is for civic and service organizations, church and youth groups, school groups and clubs, Scout groups, individuals, families, neighborhoods and businesses. Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. at Cabot Junior High-South on Panther Trail and check in at the registration canopies, then will be assigned routes.
