If your valentine loves art, here are some shows to stir the heart.

Can’t wait till Friday? A sweetheart of a show opens today. “Red Wine and Chocolate” starts with a reception at 5:30 p.m. today at Local Colour, the artists’ co-op at 5811 Kavanaugh Blvd., Little Rock. Coffee and the Buddha: For those looking for spiritual inspiration in art, painter Ruth Pasquine has an exhibition of her Buddhist paintings through Wednesday at Mugs Cafe, 515 Main St., North Little Rock. Hours: 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Info: (501) 379-9101.

Valentine’s Day coincides with 2nd Friday Art Night in downtown Little Rock. Here’s a couple of shows to consider:

The Mid-Southern Watercolorists 44th annual Juried Exhibit opens with a reception at 5 p.m. Friday at Historic Arkansas Museum, 200 E. Third St., Little Rock. The exhibit will showcase 40 works; awards will be announced at the reception. Among the more than 30 artists are Gary Alexander, Mabelvale; Sandy Barksdale, Cotter; Catherine Caldwell, George Wittenberg and Ruth Fein, Little Rock; and Cynthia Schanink, Hot Springs Village. The exhibit hangs through April 6. Hours: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday, 1-5 p.m. Sunday. Info: (501) 324-9351, historicarkansas.org.

The Butler Center for Arkansas Studies has an abundance of art. On Friday, the center, at 401 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock, features metal sculptor Russell Lemond. You might want to check out the Arkansas Pastel Society’s National Juried Exhibition, which closes Saturday, and “Arkansas Women to Watch 2013,” with its rich assortment of textile art. In Hot Springs:

Arkansas Society of Printmakers Exhibition, Fine Arts Center of Hot Springs, 626 Central Ave., Hot Springs. Works in the show and sale include aquatints, etchings, lithographs, monoprints, mezzoprints and reliefs. Artists include Win Bruhl, David Warren, Dominique Simmons, Diane Page Harper and Warren Criswell.
