Funeral arrangements have been set for Jake Harrell, the Arkansas Forestry Commission pilot found dead Tuesday in the wreckage of his plane after he went missing Jan. 31.
Harrell disappeared while searching for wildfires. An intensive search of the rugged, steep terrain he was flying in ultimately revealed the plane's wreckage Tuesday afternoon in a remote part of the Ouachita National Forest in Montgomery County.
The commission said Thursday that Harrell's funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Assembly of God Church in North Little Rock, 4501 Burrow Road. A visitation at the same location is set from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday.
“We will do all that we can to honor our brother and friend in the days to follow," search incident commander and commission law enforcement officer Billy Black said in a statement. "We cannot begin to thank so many responsible for helping us bring him home. We stand in absolute gratitude and thanks to our partners and friends who have supported us through this incident."
The commission said the Brayden Harrell Scholarship Fund has also been set up for Harrell's young son at Simmons First National Bank and Metropolitan Bank locations.
