A Conway man has been charged with multiple counts of burglary following his arrest early Friday morning on the suspicion that he had broken into a tobacco store.

Officers responded to a burglary report at the Tobacco Warehouse, 1825 E. Oak St., and upon arrival found a front-glass window broken out and the store burglarized, according to a news release from the Conway Police Department.

William Skylar Carter, 31, who police say was suspected in several other burglaries around the city, was located in “an area he is known to hangout” and taken into custody by officers after they discovered glass on Carter’s clothes and cartons of cigarettes in his vehicle.

While being questioned, Carter admitted to burglarizing the tobacco shop and two other businesses, Holly’s Country Cooking, 120 Harkrider St., and Head Start Preschool, 1865 Lucille St.

The burglary at the Tobacco Warehouse is still under investigation, but detectives are attempting to verify Carter’s admissions, the release states. He is being held without bond at the Faulkner County jail on three felony commercial burglary charges and three misdemeanor theft of property charges.
