New Eagle Scouts

Brandon Bemis, 18, is theson of Jim and Toni Bemis of Conway and a member of Troop 392 at Peace Lutheran Church. For his Eagle Project, Bemis held a food and backpack drive to provide donations to the Arkansas Rice Depot Food For Kids program. His donation consisted of 55 backpacks and 1,904 food products.

Andrew Cash, 15, is a member of Troop 100 at First Presbyterian Church in Pine Bluff. He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Steven Cash of Little Rock. Cash’s Eagle Project was the refurbishment of the flower beds at the Arkansas Convalescent Center in Pine Bluff. Under his direction, Cash and his fellow troop members were able to place mulch, position soaker hoses and plant azaleas, boxwoods and other types of shrubbery in the flower beds.

Remy Chilcote, 18, of LittleRock, is the son of Jeanine and Brad Chilcote and a member of Troop 59 at First Christian Church in Little Rock. For his Eagle Project, Chilcote and his team converted an abandoned lot across from the World Services for the Blind headquarters in Little Rock into a walking and play park for service dogs that assist clients and residents at that facility. The conversion involved clearing the lot and installing new fencing, an irrigation system, a water station for dogs and a bench.

Luke Childress, 14, is the son of Tim and Angela Childress of Little Rock. He is a member of Troop 99 at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Little Rock. Childress’ Eagle Project consisted of making various site improvements at Pinnacle Mountain State Park including striping parking lots and painting parking bumpers, gates and tables.

Harrison Dawson, 15, is the son of Richard and Ibis Dawson and a member of Troop 392 at Peace Lutheran Church in Conway. Dawson’s Eagle Project involved the construction and installation of 30 aquatic habitat improvement structures to help benefit a variety of fish species at Spring Lake in the Ozark-St. Francis National Forest.

David Desrochers, 16, is the son of David and Linda Desrochers. He is a member of Troop 392 at Peace Lutheran Church in Conway. For his Eagle Project, Desrochers constructed a trail entrance for the University of Central Arkansas Nature Reserve.

Grayson Greer, 17, is the son of Robert and Sharon Greer. He is a member of Troop 395 at St. James Methodist Church in Little Rock. Greer’s Eagle Project involved the improvement of the aesthetic appearance of the Rebsamen Tennis Center in Little Rock by repainting the parking lot lines.

William R. Luyet, 18, is the son of Jimmy and Charity Luyet and a member of Troop 78 in Conway. Luyet’s Eagle Project was the complete tearing down and rebuilding of the Conway Knights of Columbus Hall.

Sam Rogers, 18, is the son of Jonathan and Esther Rogers and a member of Troop 227 in Little Rock. For his Eagle Project, Rogers aided the Faulkner County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals by helping to repair tornado damage. He cleaned the property, repaired the feeding shed, repainted the horse trailer, dug a 100-foot trench across the back of the property and laid French drain to help prevent future drainage problems on the property.

Austin Smith, 15, is the son of Glen and Barbara Smith of Jonesboro. He is a member of Troop 210 at Cornerstone Methodist Church in Jonesboro. Smith’s Eagle Project consisted of mapping and labeling the classrooms and doors in all of the schools in the Brookland School District to assist personnel in the event of an emergency. His work required several man hours on his part and several other Scouts and adults who assisted him, including law enforcement officers and other emergency personnel who acted as advisers.
