Debris sits outside of 126 Village Drive in Benton on Monday, Feb. 16, 2014, after a woman drove through the home earlier that morning.

A Benton woman was arrested Sunday after she drove through one home and struck another before fleeing the scene, police said.

Benton police responded just after midnight to a report that someone had driven through a house and struck a parked van at 126 Village Drive. The driver also continued into the yard of 127 Village Drive and struck support beams and the side of that home before fleeing the scene, according to a statement from the Benton Police Department.

Following a trail of debris, authorities found the driver, 44-year-old Kay Skaggs of Benton, at a home on Hester Drive, police said. Skaggs told officers she had blacked out, possibly from a medical condition and medication she takes, and didn't remember the accident, according to police.

Skaggs was arrested and taken to the Saline County jail, where she was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, a felony, and leaving the scene of an accident. Police say additional charges are possible.

No injuries were reported in the accident.
