A Cove man died Saturday after his pickup was hit by a train at a railroad crossing near his home, police said.
Claude R. Franks, Jr., 75, was driving a 2005 GMC pickup west on East Barton Avenue in Cove shortly before 11 a.m. when the truck was hit by a northbound train at railroad crossing.
Franks died from unspecified injuries. The train engineer was not injured.
The death was the 42nd fatality in a traffic crash in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
