A Conway man is in custody after he held a family against their wills, held a knife to his ex-girlfriend’s neck and threatened to kill her in front of police, authorities say.
The Conway Police Department said Tuesday that Xavier Carter, 24, was arrested on multiple charges including attempted capital murder and five counts of kidnapping. Authorities responded to a home at 801 S. German Lane on Saturday.
Officers searched the home and found Carter with his ex-girlfriend, 19, in a storage room, with Carter holding a knife to her neck, police said. The situation escalated to the point that officers used a Taser to subdue Carter and arrest him, according to police.
The ex-girlfriend received treatment for cuts on her fingers and a small cut on her neck. Carter allegedly punched two other family members, who suffered minor injuries, according to authorities. Family members present included a 61-year-old woman along with three children, ages 11, 9 and 7. All individuals were related to the ex-girlfriend, Conway police spokesman LaTresha Woodruff said.
Carter, who was also charged with aggravated residential burglary, first degree terroristic threatening and second degree battery, according to the Faulkner County jail log, and is being held without bail at the Faulkner County jail.
