McDaniel says woman stole nursing home drugs

MOUNTAIN HOME — Arkansas' attorney general says a Baxter County woman was sentenced to three years' probation for stealing pain medication prescribed to nursing home patients.

Attorney General Dustin McDaniel said Tuesday that 23-year-old Courtney Lynn Goodwin of Mountain Home had pleaded guilty to obtaining a controlled substance by fraud and was also fined $1,000.

McDaniel's office said Goodwin had been a nurse supervisor at the Pine Lane Therapy and Living Center in Mountain Home before her arrest last October. Investigators from the state's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit said she took painkillers that had been prescribed to three residents at the center.

The Baxter Bulletin newspaper reported Goodwin acknowledged taking three pills from three residents and that she can ask the court to seal her record after she completes her term of probation.
