Severe weather possible in east Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK — Forecasters say parts of east Arkansas could see severe weather Thursday from a storm system moving through the state.

The National Weather Service said severe weather is most likely Thursday afternoon in the eastern part of the state, particularly in areas along the Mississippi River. Forecasters say storms are expected to expand in coverage as the system moves eastward out of the state.

The weather service said some storms could be severe with damaging winds and isolated tornadoes possible.

Forecasters say much of Arkansas will see a windy day Thursday with gusts of 30 mph to 40 mph possible. Isolated to scattered rain showers are possible in the morning Thursday.
