The Arkansas Glasshoppers Inc. are expecting 1,000 people to drop by its 28th annual Depression Era Glass Show and Sale, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday in the Hall of Industry, State Fairgrounds, 2600 Howard St., Little Rock. Two dozen dealers from 14 states will display period glassware, pottery and kitchen items, with door-prize giveaways on the hour and a reference table for glass identification (up to three items). The $5 admission is good for both days.

Everything will be blooming at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock for the Arkansas Flower and Garden Show, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. Through how-to presentations, workshops and lectures, experts will give advice on topics including backyard poultry, native plants and outdoor decorating.
There will also be workshops for children, vendors and a silent auction. Tickets are $8, $6 for ages 60 and older, free for children 16 and under. A three-day pass is $12. The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra’s Rockefeller Quartet will put on their “Storytime” demonstration, a “choose your own adventure” story with Antonio Vivaldi’s Four Seasons as a backdrop, plus an instrument “petting zoo” where kids can interact with musicians and their instruments, 2 p.m. Sunday at the Argenta Community Theater, 405 Main St., North Little Rock. Red balls and red-hot chili are on the agenda for the annual Chili with a Kick event, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday at Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock. At this benefit for Youth Home, visitors will have the chance to enter or just sample the Chili Cook-off, play a few rounds of kickball or test their endurance in the Las Palmas Jalapeno Eating Contest at 2 p.m. Acoustic music and a Kid’s Area with games and Kindersongs round out the activities.
