Man fatally shot in car in Pine Bluff

One person has been arrested after a Pine Bluff man was fatally shot early Friday morning, authorities said.

Police responded shortly after 1:30 a.m. to gunshots reported in the area of Saracen and Willow streets in Pine Bluff, finding a red Chevrolet Cavalier parked in the area, according to a police report.

Officers approached the car and found 36-year-old Taurus Goins inside with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead about an hour-and-a-half later.

Shortly after arriving, officers were directed by another call to nearby Graceland Cemetery where the driver of the car was said to be waiting on them.

Police located 30-year-old Jason Miller there.

"Miller told Officer McDaniel and I that he was just driving and picking up a friend when a white Impala started firing at his vehicle," police wrote in the report.

Lt. David Price, a spokesman for the Pine Bluff department, said investigators believe Miller was lying and that he was actually the gunman. Asked what led to that conclusion, Price said it was "just from the detective's investigation" and that he couldn't release details.

Miller was arrested on a murder charge.

Price said it's unclear what the relation was between Miller and Goins and that the motive isn't yet known.
