More charges filed against former Osceola teacher in sexual assault case

A former Osceola High School math teacher accused of sexually assaulting at least one male student faces additional charges in the case, the state's prosecuting attorney said Friday.

Jacqueline Nichole Winberry, 28, of Paragould, was arrested Jan. 16 and charged with four counts of first-degree sexual assault following an investigation into a report received on the Arkansas Child Abuse Hotline. In Mississippi County Circuit Court on Friday, Prosecuting Attorney Scott Ellington also charged Winberry with three counts of transportation of minors for prohibited sexual contact, according to a statement from Ellington's office.

Winberry's trial is set for April 14-17. Her pretrial hearing will be April 1.

All charges are felonies and are punishable with anywhere from six to 30 years in prison and a $15,000 fine, according to the news release.
