Vigil set to honor LR teen killed in shooting

By The Associated Press

This article was published February 21, 2014 at 8:01 a.m.

A vigil is planned at a Little Rock high school to honor a 15-year-old girl fatally shot after a group of teens vandalized a car.

The vigil for Adrian Broadway is set for 4 p.m. Friday at McClellan High School, where she was a freshman. Police say 48-year-old Willie Noble opened fire on a group of teenagers that he believed vandalized his car. Broadway was struck by gunfire and died at a Little Rock hospital.

Police say Noble told investigators that he only wanted to scare the teens, not harm anyone. He's being held in the Pulaski County jail on suspicion of first-degree murder.

McClellan principal Henry Anderson says Broadway was a "bright, kind-hearted and precocious young woman with immense potential." Her funeral is set for Saturday in Little Rock.

Don't get me wrong, I really feel for the family of this girl, but we are going to 'honor' a kid that was shot while out at 1:30 in the morning vandalizing a car? Hmmmmm....

I was taught
that it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, rather than to speak up and remove all doubt.......
The same principal applies in print!

As tragic as this story is, it just goes to show that parents have to be more responsible for their children nowadays. Our society is so quick to want children to be grown that they let them do whatever. What normal parent would let their 15 year old out at 1:30 in the morning? Nothing good is happening in the streets after midnight, so why be riding around?

So sad that stupid people are loose on our streets ..........

Why would you shoot at someone throwing eggs at your car?

Why, at 15 years old, IF you are a ""bright, kind-hearted and precocious young woman with immense potential" would you be out at 1:00 AM vandalizing someone's car and this wasn't the first time?

Why is it? ....... stupid people ...... and there ain't no cure for stupid.

Stupid people don't value another person's life.

Stupid people don't value another person's property.

Stupid parents don't teach their children values.

Stupid parents don't know or care what their 15 year old is doing at 1:00 AM.

So sad.

regardless if the TIME the child was out going out to get food with their friends and do a prank on a close friend who pranked them months back. No justification for shooting in a car..

Being out @ 1am is not against the law....shooting a gun in the city limits unless defending your life IS against the law. These are the FACTS.

I must say that I am a good parent. One night, while I was sleep and after I check on my kids and locked up my house, my 16 year old sneaked out of the house. I did catch him on his way back in! I know I raised him better and I was worried. I called his girlfriend's mother. She was gone also, so we knew they were together. So quick to blame the parent without knowing the facts? I don't know the fact about why this girl was out, but I will pray for the family and the kids who witnessed their friend's death. I will also pray for the man who took this girl's life. Let's pray for the people who are judging that they do not experience this same or similar loss. It could happen to any of us. I judged once and it happened to me.
