Pete’s surgical career took them to Boston; Washington, D.C.; and ultimately to his hometown of Springfield, Mo., where they settled and raised their family. As a young person, Evelyn was a member of the Junior Service of Pine Bluff and then when she moved to Springfield, a member of the Junior League of Springfield. After 27 years, she closed The Chanticleer and began importing and selling containers of French Antiques.

Evelyn enjoyed growing roses and other flowers in the garden she and Pete loved so much. Later in life, she and Pete discovered a love for travel especially to France. They enjoyed many happy times in Paris.
