Where I live: I live with my dog Abby (a dachshund/terrier mix) in the Governor’s Mansion Historic District in the Quapaw Quarter area of Little Rock.

Occupation: I am the deputy director and chief financial officer for the Arkansas Arts Center.

My favorite space is: My living room, which is in close to its original form as it was when the house was built in 1892. The house was already restored when I bought it 10 years ago. It’s in great shape, and I’ve only had to deal with minor routine maintenance problems.

Why? The living room is warm, cozy and inviting, perfect for visiting with friends and family. A focal point as you enter is the out-of-tune but still somewhat functional antique upright piano that has traveled with me to six homes in four cities. Abby apparently enjoys this room as well - I often come home to find an indention of her body on the back cushions of the sofa. Most of all, I enjoy sitting in this room surrounded by family and friends enjoying a cocktail in front of the fire. It is very conducive to conversation and relaxation.

If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: have it adjacent to the kitchen area so that the typical social kitchen crowd could seamlessly interact with those enjoying the comfort in the living room.
