The North Beach of St. Kitts, British West Indies, was the setting at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, for the marriage of Julie Kathryn Buratowski and Patrick Robert McGuire. The Rev. Robert Wolcott of Washington officiated.
The bride is the daughter of SueAnn and John W. Buratowski of Austin. Her grandparents are Zophia and J. Walter Buratowski of North Little Rock, the late Mary Sue Grimes Roberts of Copperas Cove, Texas, and the late Kenneth H. Howard of San Diego.
Parents of the groom are Judi and Dr. Samuel McGuire III, 3910 Doral Drive. He is the grandson of Lucille and the late Samuel McGuire II of Wynne and Elsie and the late Robert Smith of Williamsport, Md.
Vows were exchanged under an arbor decorated with white tropical flowers with music by a steel pan drum duo.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a full-length, fitted sequined gown with a sweep train. The veil, made by the bride, was embellished with sequins and lace that matched the gown. She carried a bouquet of local tropical flowers including cymbidium orchids.
Serving as her sister’s matron of honor was Laura Doughty of Little Rock. She wore a simple, full-length A-line gown in ecru of crepe-back satin with a V-neckline, and carried a bouquet of local flowers including orchids.
Samuel McGuire IV of Seattle, brother of the groom, served as best man.
A reception at the North Gazebo of the St. Kitts Marriott Resort followed the ceremony. The site, with a fountain and palm trees lining the gazebo and patio, was decorated with tropical flowers.
The bride graduated from University of Arkansas at Little Rock with a bachelor’s degree in English. She is an educational specialist with Nutrients for Life in Washington.
The groom received an undergraduate degree from Catholic University of America in Washington, and a juris doctorate from George Washington University Law School. He is a lawyer.
After a honeymoon on St. Kitts and Nevis islands and in Patagonia, Chile, the couple will live in Alexandria, Va.
